Covers Austria's 13 nationwide public holidays. Easter-based holidays (Easter Monday, Ascension, Whit Monday, Corpus Christi) are computed algorithmically for any year.
Formula
Working Days = Weekdays − Austrian public holidays falling on weekdays
Count all Mon–Fri days in the range, then subtract Austria's 13 national public holidays on weekdays. Good Friday is not a national holiday in Austria (unlike Germany), but Epiphany and Corpus Christi are.
Worked Example
Scenario: Austrian supplier agrees 20 working days starting 19 May 2025.
Whit Monday (9 Jun): 1 holiday in window
Weekdays 19 May – 16 Jun: 21 • Holidays: 1
Deadline: Monday 16 June 2025
Common Mistakes
- Applying German holiday rules to Austria. Germany has 9 national holidays; Austria has 13. Germany observes Good Friday but not Epiphany nationally — Austria is the reverse.
- Missing the June cluster. Austria observes Labour Day, Ascension, Whit Monday, and Corpus Christi in May–June — up to 4 holidays in 7 weeks.
- Overlooking Catholic religious holidays. Epiphany (6 Jan), Corpus Christi, Assumption (15 Aug), and Immaculate Conception (8 Dec) are full statutory holidays in Austria.
