US Section 301 tariffs add an extra duty on many Chinese-origin goods on top of the normal tariff. Following the 2024 four-year review the rates run from 7.5%–25% on the original lists, with targeted increases such as 100% on electric vehicles, 50% on solar cells and on certain semiconductors, and 25% on lithium-ion EV batteries, steel and aluminium — but only where your exact HTS line is listed, the origin is China and no active exclusion applies.
US Section 232 tariffs apply to covered steel and aluminium articles and derivatives at 50%, with copper (semi-finished products and copper-intensive derivatives) also at 50% under its own Section 232 process. Whether your product is covered — and whether a country arrangement or quota changes the rate — depends on the exact HTS line and origin.
A US Section 232 proclamation of April 2, 2026 adjusts imports of pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical ingredients, with covered branded/patented finished products facing a 100% tariff from May 1, 2026. Treatment differs by case — importers under an approved US onshoring plan are exempt while it is honoured, many generics and APIs fall outside scope, and partner-country arrangements can cap the rate — so confirm your product’s coverage, case and date rather than assuming a single rate.
A US Section 232 proclamation of January 14, 2026 (effective January 15, 2026) sets a 25% tariff on specifically covered advanced semiconductors, manufacturing equipment and derivatives, with use-based exclusions. Certain Chinese-origin lines also face separate Section 301 tariffs. Confirm coverage rather than assuming every chip is hit.
A US Section 232 proclamation of August 13, 2026 adjusts imports of unmanned aircraft systems (drones) and components. Covered Annex I products face 100% and covered UAS at or under 25 kg in Annex II face 25%, with a primary effective date of September 3, 2026 and covered Annex III components from February 9, 2027. Coverage is product- and annex-specific — confirm your line rather than assuming a rate.
