Covers Peru's 15 national public holidays. Easter-based holidays (Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Sunday) are computed for any year.

Formula

Working Days = Weekdays − National public holidays falling on weekdays

Count all Monday–Friday days in the range, then subtract any Peruvian national public holidays that fall on those weekdays. Peru does not use a Monday-shifting rule — holidays on weekends are not compensated with a substitute weekday holiday unless specifically decreed.

Worked Example

Scenario: A Lima supplier quotes a 10 working day lead time starting Monday 21 July 2025.

Fiestas Patrias falls immediately within the window: 28 July (Monday) and 29 July (Tuesday) are both statutory public holidays.

10 working days + 2 Fiestas Patrias holidays = 12 weekdays forward

Result: deadline falls on 5 August 2025

Fiestas Patrias (28–29 July) is Peru's most commercially significant holiday period. Many businesses extend closures to the surrounding days — always confirm directly with your Peruvian counterpart for any deadline spanning late July.

Common Mistakes

  • Missing the two-day Fiestas Patrias block. Peru's independence is celebrated across two full statutory public holidays — 28 July and 29 July. Teams that account for only one day will undercount by one working day for any timeline spanning that week.
  • Overlooking military commemorations. Peru has three military commemoration holidays not found in other Latin American calendars: the Battle of Arica and Iquique (7 June), the Battle of Angamos (8 October), and the Battle of Ayacucho (9 December). Generic calculators and international scheduling tools commonly omit these.
  • Expecting Monday substitution holidays. Unlike Colombia (Ley Emiliani) and some other countries, Peru does not automatically shift holidays falling on weekends to the following Monday. If 8 October falls on a Wednesday, it remains on Wednesday — there is no substitute day off on Monday or Friday.
