Formula

Commission = Selling Price × Commission Rate (%) | Service Fee = Selling Price × Service Rate (%) | Payment Fee = Selling Price × Payment Rate (%) | Total Fees = Commission + Service Fee + Payment Fee + Shipping + Ad Cost | Net Revenue = Selling Price − Total Fees

Shopee charges multiple fees on each sale: a commission percentage, a service fee percentage, and a payment processing fee percentage, all calculated on the selling price. Shipping and ad costs are direct deductions. The net revenue is what remains after all fees. The effective fee percentage shows total fees as a proportion of selling price.

Worked Example

Product selling for SGD 50 · Commission 2.5% · Service fee 2% · Payment fee 2% · Shipping SGD 3 · Ad cost SGD 1.

Commission = SGD 50 × 2.5% = SGD 1.25

Service fee = SGD 50 × 2% = SGD 1.00

Payment fee = SGD 50 × 2% = SGD 1.00

Total fees = SGD 1.25 + SGD 1.00 + SGD 1.00 + SGD 3.00 + SGD 1.00 = SGD 7.25

Net revenue = SGD 50 − SGD 7.25 = SGD 42.75

Effective fee % = (SGD 7.25 ÷ SGD 50) × 100 = 14.5%

The seller keeps SGD 42.75 per unit before product cost, labour, and packaging. To be profitable, the product cost must be significantly lower than SGD 42.75.

Frequently Asked Questions

When to use this calculator

  • Setting a competitive selling price while accounting for all Shopee fees
  • Determining minimum product cost needed to achieve target profit margin
  • Comparing profitability of different products across Shopee categories
  • Evaluating whether paid advertising on Shopee is profitable for your items
  • Analyzing the impact of shipping fees on overall profitability

Common mistake: not accounting for all fees

Many new sellers only subtract commission and forget service or payment fees.

Fee TypeImpact on $50 Sale
Commission (2.5%)$1.25
Service fee (2%)$1.00
Payment fee (2%)$1.00
Shipping$3.00
Ad cost (allocated)$1.00
Total fees$7.25
Net revenue (after fees)$42.75

Forgetting just the service and payment fees (3% combined) on a $50 item adds up to $7.50 per month per 50 units sold — that's lost profit that could be caught with this calculator.

Frequently asked questions

What fees does Shopee charge sellers?

Shopee charges a commission percentage on sales value, a service fee percentage, payment processing fees, and may add shipping or other charges depending on fulfillment model and market. Fees vary significantly by product category, seller tier (regular, premium, verified), and current promotions or seasonal campaigns.

How do I find my exact fee rates?

Log in to your Shopee Seller Centre, navigate to Settings > Commission Rates, or check the commission table for your specific market and product category. Rates are market-specific — Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Taiwan each have different rate structures. Always verify before pricing products.

Can I reduce my Shopee fees?

Fees are set by Shopee per category and seller tier and cannot be negotiated directly. However, reaching higher seller tiers (based on transaction volume, ratings, and on-time shipping) often unlocks lower commission rates. Premium seller or verified seller programs may also offer discounted fees.

How do I calculate my profit margin?

Profit margin = (Net Revenue − Product Cost − Other Costs) ÷ Selling Price × 100. Use this calculator to find net revenue after all Shopee fees, then subtract product cost, packaging, and labour to determine net profit per unit.

Should I include ad costs in pricing?

Yes, if you run paid ads on Shopee. Take your monthly ad budget, divide by expected units sold that month, and allocate that cost per unit. This ensures pricing covers advertising and helps you determine whether paid promotion is actually profitable for each product.

What is effective fee percentage?

Effective fee percentage = (Total Fees ÷ Selling Price) × 100. It shows the total cost of selling on Shopee as a percentage of your selling price, making it easy to benchmark against other platforms or your own products.
